Great Places to Eat and Drink Nearby

Staying at Sea-Renity means you’re just moments from some of Sidmouth’s loveliest cafés, pubs and restaurants. Here’s a handy guide to great places to eat and drink, all within an easy stroll of the house.

The White Horse – Classic Fish & Chips

5–7 minutes’ walk
A Sidmouth staple and perfect for a relaxed seaside supper. Order traditional fish and chips and either eat in, or do it properly and carry your wrapped-up feast down to the Esplanade wall to enjoy with sea views and salty air. Although for the best fish and chips, go to Frydays in Seaton. It’s lush!

The Swan Inn – Traditional Pub Favourites

Around 10 minutes’ walk
A cosy, characterful pub ideal for a pint after a day on the coast path or a hearty lunch with the family. Expect proper pub classics, a friendly welcome and a laid-back atmosphere that suits all generations. One of our favourite pubs in Sidmouth. Lovely in the summer, as they have a fab pub garden, and cosy and inviting on a cold winter’s evening with the log fire roaring!

The Cinnamon Tree – Indian Dining & Takeaway

Less than 2 minutes’ walk
Very handy from Sea-Renity, this modern Indian restaurant is a go-to for flavour-packed curries. Dine in for an evening out, or pick up a takeaway and enjoy a leisurely meal back in the spacious kitchen-diner at home. One of our favourite Indian restaurants, our favourite is the Fish Masala. The Clock Tower Café – Coffee & Cake with a View

About 20 minutes’ walk (via Connaught Gardens)
Walk up through beautiful Connaught Gardens and you’ll be rewarded with one of the best views in town. The Clock Tower Café (see the official site via the Visit Sidmouth listings) serves generous slices of cake, light lunches and hot drinks, all with sweeping sea views – a lovely treat after a morning on the beach. Recently mentioned in Jeremy Vine’s new book! It seems Sidmouth is one of his favourite places!

The Victoria Hotel – Elegant Cream Teas

15–20 minutes’ walk
For something a little special, stroll along to The Victoria Hotel. Check the hotel’s official website for current dining and spa options. It’s a delightful spot for a traditional Devon cream tea in refined surroundings, or a relaxing drink on a rainy afternoon. We love their Sunday lunches, great value for such a special location.

Cafés, Coffee Stops & Ice Cream

Being right behind the high street, Sea-Renity puts you within a few minutes of Sidmouth’s independent cafés and ice cream parlours. You’ll find:

  • Cosy spots for a lazy brunch or afternoon tea.
  • Plenty of places for takeaway coffees to enjoy on the seafront.
  • Artisan ice cream and gelato – essential after a paddle.

Enjoying Takeaways at Sea-Renity

If you’d rather stay in after a busy day, Sidmouth has a good choice of takeaways including fish and chips, Indian and more. Sea-Renity’s exceptionally well-equipped kitchen, large dining table and breakfast bar make it easy to spread out a feast and enjoy a relaxed evening together at “home”.
